Ower´s House has romantic appeal and an ambient quaintness. This three-story weatherboard building has slim windows, high gabled roof and external balconies, giving it a fairytale appearance. Ower´s Mill House comprises three bedrooms, two bathrooms including spas, open plan kitchen, dining and lounge plus laundry. A feature of the unit is the antique furniture, which complements original features dating back 140 years. A spiral staircase connects the different levels eventually arriving at the attic bedroom, which extends the entire length of the building. This loft area boasts its own spa, lounge setting and angled skylight windows, which overlook the avenue.

Of interest are the solid hardwood beams and original pine flooring. The rendered interior walls of the cottage ensure a feeling of cosy warmth. The master bedroom is on the ground floor with a window opening onto a cottage garden. The second bedroom is on a lofted
mezzanine which hovers above the open plan kitchen and living space. Attic windows overlook the inner courtyard. Attached to the cottage is an extensive conservatory complete with private, internal fern garden. Anson´s Cottage was built in the 1800´s, about the same time as The Mill, and is in the genre of a miner´s cottage. Some of the original features are still visible today including the pine lining boards. The renovations have made the cottage immensely more liveable without sacrificing the intimacy of the original building. The backyard is equipped with a BBQ and an outdoor dining setting. *There is one main shared bathroom area and a small spare shower.

As the name implies The Vicarage has an ecclesiastical flavour;

This suite contains a massive open plan dining and lounge area complete with gourmet kitchen, which opens onto an equally impressive private balcony with an outdoor dining setting. The elegant master bedroom is large and complemented by a spacious bathroom, with spa and walk in dressing room. The second bedroom has an en-suite including spa. Antique furnishings embrace the layout and, combined with the leather lounges and home theatre package (wide-screen, rear projection t.v.), the end result is absolutely magnificent.
Local Attractions:
The Clocktower: Manifold Street, Camperdown. Towering 30 metres above the street, this striking Gothic style tower was built in 1896 in memory of district pioneer Thomas Manifold. The clocktower is open on the first Sunday of each month, when the craft market is held under the magestic elms. Group bookings can be made by appointment to climb the tower: 55933144.
Finlay Avenue: Two kilometre long avenue of English Elms (Ulmus Procera) runs the length of Manifold Street. The avenue is classified by the National Trust and is listed on the Register of Significant Trees of Victoria. It was planted in 1876 by district school children to honor dairy industry leaders and workers. Beneath the elms are historic monuments, statues and war memorials that commemorate the contribution and achievement of district pioneers. Barbeque and picnic facilities are also available opposite the Guide Hall.
Historical Museum: 241 Manifold Street. This former IOOF hall, built in 1896, houses a collection of local historical photographs, maps, clothing and farm implements. A display of Aboriginal artifacts also features. Open 2:00-4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, Friday and Sunday. Alternate times by arrangement: 55939360.
Scenic Drive / Walking Trail; Mount Leura & Sugarloaf Mountain: Take the scenic mountain drive from Adeney Street off the Princes Highway to a carpark at the top of Mount Leura. A short walk takes you to a look-out over the third largest volcanic plain in the world. Immediately south is Mount Sugarloaf, a symmetrical volcanic cone which was classified by the National Trust in 1970. The two mountains are linked by a walking trail.
Scenic Drive / Beach Reserve; Lake Bullen Merri & Lake Gnotuk: Off the Princes highway, two kilometers west of Camperdown or via Park Lane, the two lakes are in a twin volcanic crater, separated only by a narrow stretch of land. Lake Gnotuk is salty and 30 metres lower than Lake Bullen Merri which has fresh water and provides excellent fishing. Bullen Merri takes in The South Beach Reserve which has toilets, barbeque, boat ramp, parking, picnic and swimming facilities.
Botanic Gardens & Lookout: Access at the top of Park Lane, through the Caravan Park. These gardens were designed by William Guilfoyle in 1869. The scenic lookout takes in the panoramic plains of the western district, and features stunning views of the twin crater lakes, Bullen Merri & Gnotuk. The perfect place to picnic on a sunny day, the botanic gardens also boasts a statue of Robert Burns, a reference to Scotland´s most famous national poet and recognition of the predominantly Scottish and Irish heritage brought to the area by settlers.
Stone Walls: The most important and extensive network of dry stone walls in Australia are located in the Corangamite District. These walls were built by skilled craftsmen from
England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales. The tradition was often handed down from father to son, creating stone-walling families. Most of the stones walls in this area were built after the
gold-rush of the 1850´s to clear and divide the land and to form barriers to rabbits.
